More often than not fans will look to watch sport on the biggest and high-quality screen possible, however the new digital world offers sports broadcasters a wealth of opportunities to deliver programming to fans outside of their TV sets in many different ways. In certain circumstances these digital platforms not only create lower-price points to fans but open up new revenue streams for broadcasters or if offered free, offer further exposure for an event or drive participation.
The Best Digital Media Project award will recognise a cutting-edge digital initiative that has, between August 1st 2015 and August 1st 2016, either used, or launched, a digital product which:
- Offers sports fans new or more immersive ways to consume live sports broadcasts
- Has created a new revenue stream for the company or partner organisations
- Maximises the sports broadcast opportunities created by increased internet penetration both at home and on the move
- Has increased the number of ways fans can access coverage of live sport.

With the WTA Finals mobile app for Android, fans can get closer to the tournament action with real-time scores, news, statistics, draws, player profiles, schedule, videos, and more.
Root Sports- WHEREiROOT is an interactive social media promotion that allows fans to be featured on-air. We encourage fans from our five-state footprint to show us where they are watching ROOT SPORTS (“where they are rooting for the Mariners”). People can post their photos or videos on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for their chance to see themselves during the broadcast.
