The TV Sports Awards 2016, supported by SPORTEL, celebrated and recognised excellence in the sports media industry, whilst raising valuable funds for the Play for Change Foundation initiatives around the globe. The TV Sports Awards 2016 featured sports legends, high profile guests from the world of sports, entertainment, media and valued contributors to this global initiative.
The 2016 nominees for the TVSA have been shortlisted by a panel consisting of Nicholas Meacham from SportsPro, Sree Varma from iSportconnect, Martin Ross from Sportcal, Frank Dunne from SportBusiness and Robin Jellis from TV Sports Markets.
Best Live Coverage
The Best Live Coverage Event award will recognise the broadcast that took sport coverage to the next level for fans watching on TV or on the move in a live transmission between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016
Best Digital Media Project
The Best Digital Media Project award will recognise a cutting-edge digital initiative that has, between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016, either used, or launched, a digital product.
Best Sports Broadcaster
The Best Sports Broadcaster award will recognise a broadcaster that has really made itself stand out from the crowd and is open to any TV channel that has offered live or highlights sports coverage between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016
Best TV Rights Deal
Best TV Rights Deal award will be selected by an independent, expert judging panel and will recognise a sports broadcast partnership between two companies that was signed in between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016
Media Executive of the year
Media Executive of the Year award will be selected by an independent, expert judging panel and will recognise a sports media executive who, in between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016: Maximised ressources, made bold business decisions, opened up a new revenue stream, territory or sport for his or her company or partner organisations.
Play for Change award
Play for Change award presented on the night will recognise a top-class athlete who is responsible for extraordinary social responsibility work through supporting, funding and advocating worthy campaigns, initiatives and projects for vulnerable children through sports.
Agency of the year
The Best Agency award will recognise the agencies who have had the biggest impact on the sports broadcasting industry. This can include brokering new broadcasting partnerships and media rights deals, launching new services or overachieving for their clients.
BEst football rights deal
Best Football Rights Deal award will be selected by an independent, expert judging panel and will recognise an outstanding sports broadcast partnership between a company and football club that was signed in between August 1 2015 and August 1 2016
